Draw your floor plan

Zones, tables, seats and shapes. The half hour that decides whether every booking after it is right.

TapTime does not guess how many people fit in your restaurant. It reads your floor plan, table by table, and offers a slot only when a real table can hold that party at that time. Which means the half hour you spend drawing the room is the half hour that makes every later booking correct.

Start with zones

A zone is a part of the room a guest would ask for by name: main hall, terrace, window, upstairs. Guests can state a preference, your staff can seat by zone, and the board groups by it during service.

  • Two to five zones is normal. One is fine for a small room.
  • Name them the way your staff already do, not the way an architect would.
  • A terrace that closes in winter is a zone you deactivate, not delete.

Add the tables

  1. 1
Drop a table onto the canvas

Round, square or rectangular, then drag it where it stands in the real room. Rotate it if that helps you recognize the plan.

  2. 2
    Label it

Use the number your staff shout across the room. If the terrace tables are T1–T6, call them that.

  3. 3
Set the minimum and maximum seats

This is the important one. A four-top that comfortably seats two is min 1, max 4. A two-top you would never seat one person at is min 2.

Draw the room you have

The temptation is to draw the room at its most optimistic — every table pushed together, every seat counted. Resist it. The plan should describe a normal Friday, not the best possible Friday, because it is a normal Friday that the booking page is quoting.

Changing the plan later

Move, rename and resize tables whenever the room changes. Bookings already made keep their table. A table you take out of service can be deactivated: it stops being offered, and its history stays readable.

How many tables you can have

The reservations subscription is tiered by active table count, so a bistro with five tables pays less than a restaurant with forty. If you reach the ceiling of your tier the panel says so and offers the next one; nothing is deleted.

Sering ditanyakan

Do I have to draw the plan to scale?

No. It is a map for recognizing tables, not an architectural drawing. What matters is that a host can look at it and know which table is which.

What about the bar?

If you seat people at it, make each stool group a table with realistic seats. If you do not take bookings there, leave it off the plan entirely.

Can I have two floor plans for summer and winter?

One plan per location, but deactivating the terrace tables in November does the same job in two clicks.
