TapTime does not hold your money, take a cut of it, or stand between you and your bank. What it does is connect to the payment provider you already have a contract with, so a guest can pay from the page they are already looking at.
Who holds what

What you need before you start
- A merchant account with one of the providers we support in your market.
- Their online or e-commerce product enabled — a card terminal in the shop is not the same contract.
- The credentials from their merchant portal: an id and a secret, or a certificate, depending on the provider.
- Ten minutes.
Test mode
Every connection has a test switch. In test mode nothing real is charged, which is how you check the whole path — guest pays, provider answers, TapTime records it — before any actual money moves. Turn it off when you have seen it work end to end.
The callback address
Providers tell you the result of a payment by calling an address on our side. Every provider's panel shows that address, ready to copy, and most providers need it pasted into their merchant portal. Do not invent it — copy the one shown for that provider.
How your credentials are held
- Secrets are encrypted before they are stored and are never sent back to your browser — the form shows “saved”, never the value.
- Only owners can open the integrations screen.
- Replacing a secret is a one-way operation: paste a new one, or leave it blank to keep what is stored.
Where guests pay
Wherever you have switched it on: the bill on a table order, or a payment link you send. The guest never leaves your branded page for longer than the provider's own secure step, and comes straight back.

Do I need a payment provider at all?
No. Plenty of venues take the order digitally and the money at the till. Payments are optional in every module.
Can I connect more than one provider?
You can store credentials for several, and one is active at a time. That makes switching provider a toggle rather than a project.
Does TapTime take a percentage?
No. You pay your subscription, and your provider's fees go to your provider.
