How do I create a QR menu for my restaurant?

Create a free TapTime account, add your categories and dishes with prices and photos, and download the QR code the dashboard generates for you. Print it on a card or sticker for the tables or the counter. Guests point their camera at it and the menu opens in the browser with no app. Edits to the menu appear instantly; the code itself never changes.

Most QR menu generators give you a code, not a menu you can manage.

A basic generator links a code to a PDF. When a price changes, the PDF has to be replaced. What a venue needs is an editable menu behind a code that stays the same.

  1. 1

A PDF menu is hard to read and to update

Guests have to zoom through a scanned page on their phone, and every price change means uploading a new file or, in some cases, printing a new code.

  2. 2

Outside help slows down every change

When a designer or web developer has to update the menu, new dishes and seasonal changes wait for someone else's schedule.

  3. 3

Full-featured tools often require a setup project

Onboarding calls, setup fees and sales demos take time that a busy venue does not have. Most owners simply want to enter their dishes and start.

A QR menu you can keep up to date after the code is printed.

Generating the code is the simple part. The menu behind it is where the work is done, from the first day.

01

The code is generated for you

Every location gets its own QR code as soon as the menu is created. Download it as an image and print it, or order printed cards from the dashboard.

02

Edit at any time, from any phone

Change a price, add a daily special or mark a dish as sold out. Guests see the change as soon as you save, and the printed code remains valid.

03

Photos, allergens, badges and calories

Each dish can have a photo, a description, allergens, tags such as vegan or spicy, and calories. Choose a list, gallery, showcase or detailed layout.

04

Every language on the same code

Add translations for each dish, and the menu opens in the guest's language automatically. One code on the table serves every language.

05

Optional ordering and payment

Use it as a menu only, or enable ordering: basket, card payment on the phone, tips, and takeaway or delivery with your own fee and minimum. Payments go to your own payment provider.

06

Your colors and fonts

Themes, fonts and colors let the menu match your venue's style. Time-limited menus, combos and offers are included.

How to create a QR menu, step by step.

No download, no design tool and no card required. With your current menu at hand, it takes about 15 minutes.

  1. 01

    Create a free account

Enter your venue's name and first location. It takes a few minutes and no card is required.

  2. 02

    Add categories and dishes

Create categories such as starters, mains, desserts and drinks. Enter each dish with its price, and add photos, allergens and translations as needed.

  3. 03

Download the QR code and place it on the tables

The dashboard generates the code. Print it on a card or sticker, or order printed cards. Scan it to check the menu; guests can use it right away.

Connect your ads, team chat and spreadsheets without a developer

Each connection is a short form with a Send test button and a delivery log. All of them are included with the QR menu at no extra cost: no add-on, no higher tier and no per-event fee.

How conversions, webhooks and the API work
  • Google Ads
  • Meta
  • Google Analytics 4

Analytics tags without editing code

Paste your GA4, Tag Manager or Meta Pixel into Analytics & tracking and it loads on the menu. Order and payment pages never load venue tags. With ordering on, connect Google Ads, Meta and GA4 to receive each order as a purchase, sent from the server.

Paste the webhook address from Zapier, Make, n8n or Pipedream and press Send test so it detects the fields. Then map each order to Google Sheets or your accounting tool. No code is required.

Frequently asked questions

Can I create a QR menu for free?

Yes. The first 14 days are free and no card is required. You build the menu, download the code and use it on your tables during the trial. After that it is 19 € a month per location; if you do not subscribe, nothing is charged.

How do I change a price or mark something sold out?

Open the dashboard on any phone, select the item, change the price or turn on the sold-out toggle, and save. Guests see the change from that moment, with nothing to reprint.

Does the QR code change when I edit the menu?

No. The code points to your live menu, so every change to prices, dishes, photos or languages appears behind the same code. You print it once.

Can I show a breakfast menu only until a certain hour?

Yes. Give a category or an offer a time window, such as breakfast until 11:00, and it is shown and hidden automatically. Combos and promotions work the same way.

Do guests need an app to open the menu?

No. Scanning the code with the phone camera opens the menu in the browser, on any iPhone or Android phone. No download and no account are needed.

Can I make the menu in more than one language?

Yes. Add a translation for each dish in the dashboard, and the menu opens in the guest's language from the same code. There is no limit on the number of languages.

Can guests order and pay through the QR menu?

Yes, if you enable ordering. Guests add dishes to a basket and pay by card on their phone, with an optional tip. Payments go to your own connected payment provider; TapTime takes no share of orders. With ordering off, it works as a menu only.

What happens to my menu if I cancel?

After a short grace period the menu is paused and shows guests a brief “temporarily unavailable” note. Nothing is deleted. When you subscribe again, the menu, photos and the same code are restored.

Do I need a developer to connect my QR menu to Google Analytics, Telegram or Zapier?

No. In TapTime each connection is a short form under Integrations with a test button and a delivery log, and the help centre has a step-by-step guide for each one. Failed deliveries are retried automatically, and you can resend them from the log.
